Nishmas Day 33 - Mrs. Charlene Aminoff | The Gate That Never Closes
“Through the mouths of the upright You are praised; through the words of the righteous You are blessed; through the tongues of the pious You are exalted; and among the holy You are sanctified.”
In the Sephardi version of Nishmas, the names of Yitzchak and Rivkah appear bolded within these words.
We all know that Rivka was childless for many years before she gave birth to Yaakov and Esav.
When Yitzchak and Rivkah davened to become parents, the Torah describes them as standing לְנֹכַח — facing one another. Chazal point out that the word לנכח forms the roshei teivos of נשמת כל חי.
They may not have recited the exact words we say today — but they were channeling the same emotions: gratitude, and wholehearted praise to Hashem.
So often, when we need a yeshuah, our instinct is to focus entirely on the request.
Let’s use our holy mouths not only to ask Hashem — but to praise Him.
Because no matter where you are or what you're waiting for, you always have a way in.
The gates of gratitude never close.
