Nishmas Day 16 - Mrs. Nikki Rothstein | Count Your Blessings
To bless Your Name even for one of the thousands upon thousands of kindnesses You have done for our fathers and for us.
In the words of Mrs. Nikki Rothstein:
It was Erev Pesach, during a particularly challenging point in my life, and I was listening to a shiur by Michael Safdie from Daily Bitachon.
He has certain lines he repeats often, but that day, one in particular stood out: “Count your blessings.”
Something about the way he said it resonated, so I sat down, took out a pen, and began writing.
In about half an hour, I had written down 136 things I was grateful for — big things, small things, day-to-day moments I usually overlook.
On Pesach, I told my husband I wanted to share the list with him, and I began to read the page, sharing stories he had never even heard from me.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. It was someone I had a difficult relationship with. Without warning, the person showed up… and apologized.
When we give Hashem that opening, and acknowledge all the ways He’s been there for us, we begin to see more of His goodness.
Not just in the big, dramatic moments, but in the ordinary, everyday ones.
Because no matter what we’re going through, there is always something to thank Him for.
