Nishmas Day 12 | Rabbi Yechiel Spero

We Will Never Be Forsaken

Very often, we focus on the beginning of Nishmas, where we thank Hashem for everything he has given us.Yet there’s a powerful message of hope waiting for us at the end of tefillah – one too powerful to miss. After we've praised Hashem for everything in our lives — the breath that fills our lungs, our very existence, we say something remarkable: "V'al titshienu Hashem elokienu lanetzach" – "Hashem, don't forsake us for eternity." Shidduchim, parnassa, whatever the struggle is that we’re facing, we often feel like we’ve been forgotten. It seems like everyone else is living their dream, moving onward rapidly while we’ve been left far behind. These powerful words are there to remind us that Hashem will never forsake us, never forget us —- not as a people, and not as individuals. Wherever we are in life, we haven’t been abandoned there. Hashem is holding us tight and his care for us is constant — and eternal.
