As a zechus to land an incredible job opportunity, a husband and his wife made a joint commitment to say Nishmas each day.

The application process demanded patience and persistence, but that paled in comparison to the dedication they had for their daily tefilah of Nishmas.

After submitting countless forms, the husband was informed that he would be notified of the company’s final decision by Friday at 4 PM. This particular Friday marked the fortieth day of their second round – 80 days of consecutive, sincere tefilah.

But 4 PM came and went with no news. As Shabbos approached, they had no choice but to close their computer and accept the disappointing reality — the job must have gone to someone else. 

Despite the crushing weight of their seemingly unanswered prayers, they resolved to continue saying Nishmas on Sunday.

Sunday morning, the husband entered his office to prepare for the week ahead. There he discovered an email that had arrived Friday, just after Shabbos had begun – the job was his.

Was it the 80 days of Nishmas that brought about this amazing outcome? Perhaps it was this couple's commitment to keep thanking even when it seemed that everything they had been hoping for had slipped through their fingers.
