Nishmas Day 2 | Mrs. Charlene Aminoff

No Prayer Goes Unanswered

Where is my Nishmas Miracle? When we're faced with a challenge, thanking Hashem is usually the furthest thing from our minds. Saying thank you seems paradoxical when the miracle we’re waiting for seems so out of reach. There was once a young woman who was diagnosed with a devastating and rapidly spreading illness. She told no one in her family, turning to a different source of strength β€” her commitment to recite Nishmas every day. Instead of begging Hashem to save her life, she chose to thank Him for the salvation she had not yet seen, for a miracle that seemed improbable. For forty consecutive days, she poured her heart into this tefilah of immense gratitude. On the fortieth day, she received the news: the deathly tumor the doctors had diagnosed was completely benign. Of course, it's awe-inspiring when your Nishmas miracle arrives perfectly packaged, tied with ribbons and adorned with bows. Yet often, the yeshua we seek doesn't appear immediately. In those days and weeks of waiting, doubt easily creeps in. We need to remember that Hashem treasures, hears, and saves every word of gratitude β€” and that He is directing our tefilos to where they're needed most. And when we find the strength to thank Him in our hardest times, we discover that the ability to thank is itself a tremendous gift, enabling us to shift focus and take notce the miracles already unfolding in our lives.
